Best Sports Movies

The Sandlot
Will be the greatest 'kids-sports movie' FFOORR-EEEVVVEERRR!
Major League
This movie has it all for a sports story--overcoming adversity, laugh-out-loud moments, and great music background ... cant say the same for the sequels
Hoosiers
The classic redemption tale...basketball coach gets one last chance at glory - and it doesn't hurt that its based on a true story.
Field of Dreams
"If you combine baseball, old school Kevin Costner, & James Earl Jones ... they will come"
Miracle
You can't beat an inspiring true story especially when it includes hockey, the Olympics, and the US beating the Soviet Union ... "Do you believe in miracles?"
Remember the Titans
Its cliche Disney at its finest but what makes it a great movie is Denzel Washington and a classic soundtrack
Varsity Blues
Clearly the only reason it even made this list is because the 'Whip-Creme bikini scene' is every guys fantasy...
Days of Thunder
Great racing movie ... before Tom Cruise got creepy
Eight Men Out
The story of the 1919 Black Sox scandal, when eight members of the American League champion White Sox, heavily favored to win the World Series, were enticed to throw games for the benefit of gamblers.
Ali
A biography of sports legend, Muhammad Ali, from his early days to his days in the ring, starring the always entertaining Will Smith
Cinderella Man
Another great Ron Howard film based on boxing champ James J. Braddock (played by Russell Crowe) taking place during the Great Depression; with that combination you cant go wrong.
Caddyshack
bill murray + chevy chase + gopher = classic comedy
Tin Cup
Kevin Costner makes the list again as a washed up golf pro working at a driving range who manages to qualify for the US Open
Rudy
It is an account of the life of Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger who harbored dreams of playing football at the University of Notre Dame despite significant obstacles. It was the first movie the Notre Dame administration allowed shot on campus since Knute Rockne, All American in 1940.
Rookie of the Year
"Gardenhoser !"
Knute Rockne, All American

  Coach Carter
Coach Carter is based on a true story. It's a wonderful tale, brilliantly told and the acting is superb (except for a few more minor characters). Samuel Jackson is in his element as the coach. I loved this movie. Very uplifting, very inspiring. "What is your deepest fear?"
